Donald Delisle Obituary

Donald Francis Delisle

89 years
Prince George, BC
Passed away on March 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Donald Francis Delisle. He died peacefully at Simon Fraser Lodge in Prince George on March 17, 2024 surrounded by family.
Don was born in St. Walburg Saskatchewan in 1934. He came from a farming family who fostered his love of farming, horses, and tractors. Don was a conservationist. Growing up on a farm during the Depression taught him the value of repairing almost everything and he didn't like to throw things away. He was a cowboy at heart and often reminisced about his early years in Mildred Saskatchewan that he fondly referred to as the "home place".
He left Saskatchewan in the early 1970s with his young family and they traveled out west where he worked in the logging industry and as an airplane mechanic before settling in Prince George and running his successful excavation company Ten-4 contracting. He is predeceased by his father Lloyd Alfred Delisle, mother Lillian Rose (Madden) Delisle, his brothers Bubs, Roy and Glen and is survived by his sister Della (Boechler) and brother Lorne. His is also survived by his children Patti, Robin, Scott and Bruce and grandchildren Austin, Owen, Elliot, Olivia, Travis, Cai, and Sofie.
Don loved Cluculz Lake and spent many happy hours tinkering at his cabin. He shared his love of the family farm with his children during road trips back to Saskatchewan to hunt and celebrate the harvest. He was an avid hockey fan and played in the Old Timers hockey league on the "Rusty Nuts" team for many years. He also loved to collect antiques and was always finding treasures that reminded him of his farming heritage like antique tractors, wagons, horse tack and various old hand tools.
We will always remember his work ethic, naturalist ideals and wonderful sense of humour - he rarely missed an opportunity to poke fun.
Our thanks to the staff of Simon Fraser Lodge who helped us care for him in his last years. A memorial service will be held at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club on May 17th between 1 pm to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name to Parkinson's Canada http://Parkinson.ca

I accidentally discovered Don's obituary this morning, hence the delay in sending my condolences to the family.
I met Don in 1960 when I took a teaching job in Mildred Saskatchewan.
Don and I hit it off immediately. Everything from partying, double dating, fishing, hunting, playing ball to just hanging out we did together.
I even ended up living in the Delisle home for several months paying a minimum for room and board.
From my association with Don, I'd best describe him as a loyal friend and A HARD WORK AND PLAY GUY
RIP

Don was a longtime friend and usher at our wedding in 1979. We were out of country so weren´t aware he had passed. Condolences to the family, Lorne, Patti, Robin, Scott and Bruce and their extended family. Great memories of dinners together, riding on Cluculz on your motorized wharf, and just you being you.

Lots of dancing & partying at the PG Cabaret years ago. You were such a funny happy fellow. Always smiling. You survived many things in the last years but were quite the trooper. Rest in peace. Condolences to all.

Don was quite the character! Played hockey with him for many years and had him do some small excavating jobs. Condolences to his family.
