Philip MacMillan Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Philip Currie MacMillan announces his passing at the age of 90 on August 15, 2022. Phil was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, on November 17, 1931. He had many passions - his love of pipe band drumming led him and his family to Powell River in 1966, where he worked as a sheet metal mechanic for 28 years. He loved his motorcycles and was most proud of racing at the Isle of Man in 1959. If he wasn't on his bike, he could be found at the pool doing his 40 Laps. Special thanks to the staff at the rec complex. Phil couldn't have pursued his passions without the love and support of his wife of 57 years, Catherine - she was his everything. Phil was predeceased by Catherine and survived by sons Bruce (Lorna) and Stuart (Kim) and grandchildren Kelsey and Curtis (Natasha). Special thanks to the staff at ECU, Willingdon Creek and Dr. Rosseau. No flowers or service by request.

Phil used to call my cell phone a couple of times a week...dialed the wrong number. I used to get worried when I didn´t receive a call from him. I would say to my husband, "I haven´t had a call from my wrong number this week , I hope he is ok. When Phil ended up in Extended care ( my father in law was also there). I could rest easy knowing he was ok. My condolences to Phils family.

Bruce, Stuart and family I am saddened by your fathers passing but I also celebrate in a long and happy life. As your neighbour on Kamloops street I recall many enjoyable times. I last visited him when I stayed over night at his house. We had a few laughs and reminisced about Highland Laddie Pipe Band years. Although, when your father moved after the house fire I lost track of your father. He was never far from my thoughts as he is one of the people in my life that not only made a difference but was important to me.
