Antoinette HUGHES Obituary

Peacefully passed away into God's graces with her family by her side on June 9, 2022 at the age of 90. Loving mother to Dirk (Margaret), and Kelly (John) Hughes-Allen. Cherished Grandma to Jordan (Emmett), Danny (Trudi), Devon (Steven), and Katherine (Andrew). Predeceased by her husband Douglas. Doonie will be dearly missed by friends and family. Doonie loved spending time with her family and friends - Sunday dinners, backyard BBQ's, and Saturday coffee with her many sisters. Doonie enjoyed having her four grandchildren for sleepovers and taking them for endless rides on the Port Dalhousie carousel. She was a kind and compassionate person and always up for an adventure. Doonie's family would like to thank the staff at Heidehof Retirement Home (C2) for the care, kindness and compassion she received during her time there. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Cancer Society. Please share your condolences, memories, and photos at www.pleasantviewcemetery.ca. In honouring Doonie's wishes a private family service will take place at Pleasantview Funeral Home.

Remembering the good times spent at Doonies, yes we usually had a chore to do before supper was served - remembering happy times, OPCo, QNSPCo, Q&O, etc. Happy memories, all things come to an end.

Dear Dirk and Kelly,
Condolences to you both and your family.
I was so sorry to learn about your mother´s passing. But I must confess that so many memories came to my mind that I could not refrain the smile that came upon my face:
The time she had a big truck of mulch delivered to her place and, as usual, invited the QNO girls for our Friday BBQ .... Served ONLY after the stuff was all spread out in her flower beds. She always had work for us, and we could not resist her.
Another BBQ delay... was after the living room carpet was all removed.
And I also our laughs during our trip to Jamaïca when she slept through the Easter cocktail bar set up and woke up in the middle of it with saying : Dear Lord I dreamed I was dead and woke up in heaven. .
But there she is now... heaven!
