Of Port Colborne passed away at the Welland County General Hospital on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the age of 81. Loving husband of Margaret, loving father of Brian (Jennah) and Jeff, dear grandfather of Adam and Muhammed, brother of Myrna (the late Ken) Miller, Gary (the late Margaret), Herbert (Gloria) and the late Joan (the late Fred) Lewis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Louisa Kerton.
Growing up in St. Catharines, Lewis settled with his wife in Port Colborne to raise his family. He took responsibility in caring for Margaret and raising his two boys. He was always there for support and guidance and will be remembered for his strong work ethic. Lewis spent 32 years working at Hayes Dana before retiring in 2003.
He shared his passion for fishing and camping with his sons and loved to take them out on the boat. Summer days were spent on Lake Erie trying to catch a big one and taking a break to swim off the break wall. Of course, there were the annual camping trips up to Bass Lake.
Around the house Lewis enjoyed planting his tomatoes, feeding the birds and coming up with crafty ways to stop the squirrels from disrupting either. Often tinkering in the basement or the garage he would come up with creative ways to improve or build something to make life a little easier. In his retirement years he used that creativity in his newly developed hobby of wood carving and won awards for his work.
Loving and caring are not generic terms to describe Lewis. It's what we all felt, each day, together as a family.
