Romolo "Rom" DI EGIDIO

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rom, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the age of 54. He has gone to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart and loving wife Tara (nee MacLeod) in whom he shared 36 wonderful years with. Cherished father to Noah and Matthew. Loving son to Egidio and Maria Di Egidio and son in law to Steven (Mary) MacLeod and Ivy MacLeod. Rom will live in the memories of his siblings Mark (Michelle) Di Egidio and Nadia Di Egidio and brother-in-law to Brett (Tanya) MacLeod, Drew MacLeod and Allyson (Nate) MacLeod. He will be forever missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Rom worked for the Niagara Regional Police for 27 years and held the rank of Staff Sergeant. His passions were traffic enforcement and the implementation of the police motorcycle program. Rom was the district commander for both Port Colborne and Grimsby. He was also the Staff Sergeant who oversaw both the training and traffic unit during his time with the police service. Rom was an avid collector of watches old and new and he could often be found shining his motorcycle. If so desired and in lieu of flowers donations in Rom's memory can be made to Pathstone Mental Health. Rom's family will receive visitors at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Highway - off the corner of highway 20) on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Kevin's Church (303 Niagara Street, Welland) on June 2, 2022 at 11a.m. A reception following the Funeral Service will take place at Casa Dante Lodge (34 Lincoln St, Welland). Interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens at a later date.
