ALISON TELFORD COMRIE Nee (Schweitzer) April 7, 1924 - March 8, 2013
Alison was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and passed away peacefully in her 89th year in Mississauga, Ontario. Predeceased by her devoted husband of 62 years, Patrick John Comrie, her parents Alison and Valmore Schweitzer, and her brother Paul Eric Schweitzer. Loving mother to David (Carole) Kamloops BC, Robert (Adrienne) and Alison (Robert Madeley) Mississauga. Loving Grandmother to Katie (Nathan) Robinson, Tavish and Portia Comrie, Tyler (Karen Cortese), Alexandra Comrie, and Alison and Sarah Madeley. Alison graduated from the University of Manitoba. Shortly after the war, her adventure for travel, led her to Britain, where she met her husband. Alison and Pat settled in Mississauga in 1953 where she pursued a career as a social worker. Alison enjoyed the company of a close group of lifelong friends in Applewood Acres and work colleagues, was involved in the community both socially and politically, enjoyed traveling and was a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. She always demonstrated empathy and compassion for those less fortunate. She will be dearly missed by all her family members and friends in Canada and abroad. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Private Interment at a later date.
