Dear Punkie, Minnow and Foofie
I too grew up next door to the Apted family. As Tim said in his note, it was very exciting to have the Apted family as neighbours. There was hardly a dull moment and the Schnauser dog, "Bingo", added even more to the fun. Bernie was elegant, generous, gracious and outrageous at times. Bernie is unforgettable and she will be sorely missed. Love to you all at this Christmas time - your first one without her.
Jeanette (friend and long time ago babysitter and neighbour).

Dear Carolan and family,
We were so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. We know it's been a rough ride this past year, but you have all been so wonderful in the support given to your mother, being there for her in her time of need. Both she and your whole family are blessed to be part of such tight-knit unit, she will rest well knowing what she has left behind.

Dear Punkie, Minnow and Foofie,
What a loss. I was so saddened to hear that your mom, Bernie is no longer with us. She was truly a force, a presence and a person with an enormous heart.
Our family had a close up view as next door neighbours in Toronto. There was definitely something very exciting about living next door to all those beautiful Apted girls. I remember parades, including wagons, trikes and garbage can tops (an early version of Stomp I guess) in our driveway. It was all organized and lead by Bernie. We even got an invitation to Mike and Bernie's wedding ... first wedding invite ever !!
I know we will all miss her exuberant spirit .... and we are all better for having been touched by her.

Punkie, Minnow, Foofie and family,
I was saddened to read about your Mom’s illness and passing. Mom’s, as you know, are amazing....and your Mom was a tour de force, in a larger than life family. We all can only hope to have the life and love your Mom had. May your days and nights be filled with wonderful memories.
Sincerely,
Andrea

To the family,
Deepest sympathy for your loss. Bernie was a wonderful spirit and will be truly missed by all those who knew her. I will treasure the many fun memories I have of Bernie at parties and football games of years past. It should be great consolation to know that hers was a life well-lived.

Bernie was a force and always a friend. A number of wonderful memories of Bernie and Mike back to 1976, including our first dining room suite Bernie insisted Kerry and I should purchase from her. Skip forward to political campaigns and Bernie was on the front lines canvassing with me as I ran to become an MP. She was supportive, competitive and powerful. My deepest sympathy to Her family on your loss.

Bernie was a student of mine in bridge around 2008. She was warm, vivacious, interesting and stunning with so many stories of her life. She embraced bridge with the same zeal and passion that she embraced life. We stayed in touch when she moved to Florida and she was always so generous, donating to our Cambodia charity every year. I have not seen her for some time but knew she was out there and we emailed and wrote letters a bit. I think of her often and will continue to do so. She made a lasting impression on me and I cared about her. She will be missed by so many.

To: Minnow, Punkie, Foofie, and all loved ones of Bernie, I am so sorry for your loss.
I only had the pleasure of knowing this exquisite woman for a few days but she has truly left an impression on me forever.
Bernie and I had some laughs and she shared with me so many incredible stories about her life, especially about her family. She also gave me some wonderful advice on places I needed to see on my honeymoon and small touch ups on my wedding planning that were necessary haha. I loved the short time I spent with her.
She was so classy, with her hair pinned up to perfection, even in her last moments. I am honored I had the pleasure of meeting such a stunning woman. Bernie will never be forgotten.

The passing of Bernie is heartbreaking for us left behind, but the knowledge that she is reunited with Michael and Jane ( the other half of the “Mink sisters”) is comforting. She was such a beautiful, generous and graceful lady and I’m richer to have known her. She always made me feel so special....she was loved and she will be remembered.
My sincere condolences to all of her girls and their families. Xx Colleen

Condolences to the Wadsworth family. My sister sent a newspaper clipping and asked if this was the same Wadsworth of the girl I went to school with. I am going back decades now, but I still have fond childhood memories of Mr. & Mrs. Wadsworth and Dooley the dog from when I was a young girl and attended school at Ursuline with their daughter Foofie. I always remembered them both to be so welcoming and kind. Their home was always filled with joy and laughter and trail mix that had chocolate chips! #trendsetters
Your mother and father both lived a wonderful life, and I feel privileged to have met them even if it was for a short time.

Bernie was a neighbor of mine on Grand Oaks Court while Michael was Athletic Director at The University of Notre Dame.
Her Friday night parties before a home game was attended by many famous people and neighbors too. Her charm and Michael’s seating chart in a silver frame gave us opportunity to meet many friends from Canada.
Her grace and humor will last in our memories for a long time. Our sympathies to the daughters. May you rest in peace with Michael.
