1943-2025 With great sadness, the family announces that Bruce Robert McDonald, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto, after a long battle with Parkinson's Plus. He was born on September 9, 1943, to Florence and Robert McDonald, in Toronto. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Mary; and his beloved daughter, Laura. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Gail; nephew, Roger (Carrie); niece, Wendy; great-niece, Emily; and great-nephews, Liam and Andrew. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Fred Beal. Bruce was a graduate of U of T Law School (class of '69) and he practiced law at Crown Life and Manulife for 25 years. He was very active in the International Claims Association. Bruce was also the author of text books on Canadian Insurance Law and Financial and Estate Planning. After leaving Manulife, he conducted a successful consulting business for law firms, insurance agents, brokers and insurers. Bruce was very athletic and played a variety of sports but golf was his passion. A trip to the Masters was a highlight, after winning tickets in a lottery. He was a gentleman and had a wide interest in the arts and travel. On many trips, he was lovingly nicknamed Brochure Bruce, as he researched the next excursion. The family wishes to thank all the PSW's that helped Bruce through his illness, especially Willy and Clayton. Cremation has taken place and he will rest with his parents at Park Lawn Cemetery.
