Daniel GIANNINI Obituary

GIANNINI, Daniel, 1909-2003
Dan, Danny to his many friends, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cecely, his daughter Tia ofOakville and son Guy and his wife Eve of Toronto. Loving Nonno of Kelly and Erin. Dan had a long and successful life spanning mining, military service, insurance and investment careers. He worked in the mines of Northern Ontario, then volunteered as an Engineer in WWII and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, earning an MBE. After the War, Dan switched to insurance with Empire Life rising to Vice-President by retirement. After retirement, with no slow down in sight, Dan became chairman of D.A Stuart Oil Co. In his last years he enjoyed daily management of his investment portfolio. He also escorted Cecely on many cruises. The two of them met in Mt. Isa, Australia while Dan was on assignment in 1936. The family will receive friends at the Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home, 2241 New Street, Burlington, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 28. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 287 Plains Road East, Burlington, on Friday, August 29 at 10 o'clock. Cremation. Grateful thanks to the staff at Queen's Garden, his home for the past year and a half, and to that staff and physicians at the Hamilton General Hospital. In Dan's memory, donations to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
