I met Dave at Port Credit United Church, a friendship that continued at Port Credit High School, although primarily as a fellow player on the Lorne Park Bantam and Midget hockey teams that competed at Dixie Arena in the 50s. Dave was our fearless goalie (no face masks in those days) and with his cheery demeanour a positive force in the dressing room. Very belated condolences to Penny and family.

I first met David through Sigma Chi when I moved to Toronto (from Vancouver) in 1991. We have been friends ever since. What a great brother, mentor and friend he has been to hundreds of young men as they found their path through Sigma Chi and life. He will be remebered by so many and lives on in our minds and hearts. All Honour to His Name!

Dear Penny,
I was deeply saddened to hear that David had passed on to the next chapter in the adventure which you two always seemed to handle with such aplomb. You two played a major part of growing up in Port Credit and all the memories we share about those years, our mutual friends, and PCHS. Thank you Penny for the visits we have had since and for keeping in touch so faithfully over all those years. His portraits below say it all, he was a special man and a great friend.
Love to all.
Don Barcham,
Nelson, B.C.

I got to know David through my time as an active and then as a fellow alumnus of Sigma Chi. I had the honour of picking up an award David won for his excellence as our House Corporation president. True to his modest nature, he was proud of the award but took as an award for the entire House Corporation team.
All honour to his name

David taught me a lot as a young man who joined Sigma Chi. He was a true mentor and the `Rock“ of the Beta Omega Chapter Housing Corporation. He will be dearly missed. In Hoc Signo Vinces

Dear Penny and children, I continue to be so sorry to hear of David's passing. I have nothing but happy memories of him from the last 64 years since we met. It's hard to think of us as teenagers and that just two months ago we were enjoying the theatre and dinner together. My dear friend, rest in knowledge that love heals. David died in a state of love showered on him by his family and friends. We continue to send you and your children our love. Beryl Mercer.
