DOVER, Dean Hugh (Stewart), D.F.C. and Bar, W.W. II, R.C.A.F. Squadron Leader, C.O. of 412 Spitfire Squadron 
  Peacefully, at home in London, on Friday, June 2nd, 2000, in his 84th year. ;Slipped the Surly Bonds of Earth to meet again with brothers Gus and George, and uncle Clare, departed comrades and loved ones. He leaves his grieving Clan 
  Joan (Macdonald), Lexi (Bridget and Mark Balaban), Mac (Cailey and Jamie Dean), Pegi (Philip, Beth, Alex and Chris Jessup), precious sister Marg (Stanley) Smith and loved sister-in-law Molly. He was proud uncle of many nephews and nieces. In 1948, with encouragement from his wartime buddy, Ian, Dean entered the business world. He would enjoy the next 43 years operating Welders Service (Erie Huron) (London and Sarnia), supported by his loyal and dedicated employees. Dean was a longtime member of the Byron Optimist Club and Vimy Legion. Skied at Devils Glen and canoed at Go Home Lake. The family appreciate, with heartfelt thanks, the marvellous care and kindness given by Dr. Jordan and Dr. Buckley, the V.O.N., Palliative Care Unit, and his nurse Linda, during these past months. The support and prayers and communications from friends gave strength through this time. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 5th at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the Funeral Service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday, June 6th at 11 a.m., with Reverend Canon Walter G. Mills of St. Anne's Anglican Church officiating. Interment in St. Anne's Anglican Church Cemetery, London. Dean grew up in Mount Dennis and spent his boyhood exploring the bush and walking the banks of the Humber. This was the beginning of his life-long love affair with the outdoors. He had an inherent wonderment of nature and compassion for all creatures which brought him joy throughout all his life.
