R. Glenn Bumstead passed away peacefully, in Oakville, Ontario, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. Vincent Township on October 20, 1938, Glenn was the beloved father of Andrea Phillips (Steve) and John Bumstead (Cynthia); a devoted grandfather to Rachael, Sarah, and Elise; and step-grandparent to Matthew and Samantha. Known affectionately as "Papa" to many, Glenn was a constant and caring presence - whether in school pickup lines, around Collingwood, or up in Muskoka. His family loved him fiercely, and he devoted himself every day to supporting them and enriching their lives. Glenn was predeceased by his cherished wife, P. Joan Bumstead (née Angel); and is survived by his former wife, Rosemary Bumstead. He will be deeply missed by his dear sisters, Faye, June, and Elda; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, David and Margaret Bumstead; and siblings, Edythe, Ken, David, Joyce, Stuart, Maurice, Murray, Verna, Marilyn, and Ross. After graduating from high school in 1957, Glenn served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, with postings across Canada and abroad. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta and later graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1968. Glenn held positions at Thomson Rogers and GM Canada before becoming General Counsel at TD Bank in 1976. This is a role he held with pride for 25 years until his retirement in 2001. His professional accomplishments were a deep source of pride for both him and his family. A private service was conducted in Meaford, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Oakville Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are gratefully appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
