MALLINSON, Dr. Thomas J.
Born in Calgary May 27, 1919, Professor Emeritus and Charter Member of Simon Fraser University Faculty, passed away on May 1, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Mailing, children Arthur, Anthea, David, Miranda, their mother Jean, spouses, and grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Kyle, Max, Kyra and Anthony. After graduating from UBC, Columbia University and U. of T., he was a highly respected teacher and therapist at the Toronto Psychiatric Hospital and the University of Toronto He also researched community mental health and schizophrenia. Tom moved to Vancouver for the opening of S.F.U. in 1965, where he taught until 1998. Throughout his devoted teaching career his scholarly commitment was to interpersonal relations and his continual concern was for the welfare of students. A celebration of Tom's life will be held in the Diamond University Club at Simon Fraser University at 5:30 p.m. on May 27th. No flowers please.
