Passed away after a battle with cancer at The Hospice of Waterloo Region on June 5, 2022, at the age of 80. Dearly missed by his loving wife Elisabeth of 30 years. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Rebecca (Ryan). Cherished nephew to Tante Annelies and Onkel Werner Sammer in Germany. He will also be missed by extended family in Germany and the Milne family. Special thank you to Dr. Molckovsky, Dr. Hussaini and all healthcare professionals at GRH Cancer Centre as well as to the amazing staff at Hospice Waterloo. He will be remembered as a proud stoic German. He loved lounging in his recliner, drinking German beer and reading the news on his tablet. One of his favourite hobbies was audio/video recording and Hi-fi sound reproduction. He passionately enjoyed listening to and recording music and owned many electronics, LP records and CDs. He never missed an opportunity to take photographs or record family videos for his memories. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Hospice of Waterloo Region or the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). A drop-in Celebration of Life will take place at the family's home on Saturday, June 25, 2022, between 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. The family requests that individuals be fully vaccinated and to bring an extra lawn chair and/or mask if possible.
