John Richard Lingard

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of family on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Knoll) Lingard for 55 years. Loving father of Valerie Miller (John), Heidi MacLean (Michael), Curtis Lingard (Amanda). Dear grandfather of Samuel and Maxwell Miller; Devon, Taylor, William and Lillian MacLean. John will be missed and remembered by his in-laws Doris Schaeffer (Norman), Charlette Knoll (the late Rev. Melvin Knoll), Donna Schultz (Lorne) and Raymond Knoll and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Eliza Lingard (nee Watkinson), his father and mother-in-law Rev. Roy and Ellen Knoll (Patterson), nephew Mark Knoll. John was a teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board retiring after 33 years. He volunteered with the Waterloo Busker Carnival for over 25 years. He was also a painter, poet and a train enthusiast. John's family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519-749-8467). A memorial service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022 followed by a reception. Private interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
