Ruth Mary Engel

March 3, 2023

Marion and her parents moved from Galt to Kitchener in 1945. They stayed at Gertrude Engel's home. Gertrude had a son named Dwight. Marion had become my close friend. She decided that Dwight and Ruth Mary belonged together. My bridesmaid met Usher Allen Logan at our wedding and you know the result.
My life has been enriched by having "Tunny" as a dear friend.

First my condolences to Dr. Logan's family. Marion got me through rough times during my early days in Waterloo Region through a then provincial government program called FUTURES (circa 1989). I will never forget her infectious smile and genuine pearls of wisdom which will always serve as a lasting reminder to me that we must never forget the love of family and friends.

Marion was well known to my family, especially our mother, Sheelagh. We all had great respect for her compassion and honesty. We are particularly grateful for the loving friendship and support she gave to our late mother. We extend our sincerest sympathy to the extended Logan family.

Marion was extraordinary in that she carried a heart both courageous and loving. She poured her life into the many places where challenges were complex and outcomes unsure, confident in what was most just and compassionate. I was humbled by her support at difficult and challenging times and honoured to have called her friend.

I´ve been grateful to Marion for 45 years for her example of leadership as Executive Director of the YWCA in the 1970´s to 1980's.
Her skills and depth of concern were a foundation for me to grow as a young woman those many years ago.
