Sister Audrey McCARVILLE

Passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, aged 87 in the 68th year as a School Sister of Notre Dame. Predeceased by her parents Charles M.D. and Gertrude (Ringle) McCarville and her sister Mary. Lovingly remembered by her religious community, especially her sister, Sister Carla Marie McCarville, and relatives. As an educator, Sister Audrey taught in schools in Formosa, Elora, Fergus Maryhill, St. Anne's, Kitchener and principal at Sacred Heart Junior School, Walkerton. In 1970 she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, teaching at St. Philip Neri School and then to Surrey, British Columbia as Principal of Sacred Heart School. Back in Ontario she taught at St. Agatha and then was principal of St. Clements School, St. Clements. In Hanover, she was involved in parish ministry until 1983 when she was appointed as administrator for senior sisters at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown. Following a year of studies at St. Louis University, Missouri, Sister Audrey assisted in the parish ministry at the Church of Our Lady, Guelph. For several years she was a member of the administration team at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown. Sister Audrey also participated in the catechetical correspondence team for the Diocese of Hamilton. Sister Audrey's caring nature, her sense of humour and witty remarks endeared her to everyone. The Rite of Remembrance for Sister Audrey McCarville will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at School Sisters of Notre Dame, Waterdown, Ontario. Masks are required. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Burlington, ON will follow the funeral Mass.
