Also just learned of Rod's passing. Very sad to hear this. I thoroughly enjoyed playing baseball with Rod going back to Oakville Midget and then on to Junior and Senior Oakville A's. A great friend and teammate. I had lost touch over the years but could generally find Rod at the ballpark with the oldtimers and had great fun reminiscing from time to time. Rod was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Save me an at bat big guy!

Only just now learned of Rod's passing. He was a fine ball player and, more important, a great teammate. Gone too soon.

So very sorry to hear of Rod's passing. We played senior ball together way back in the 70s. A great guy! RIP my friend.

Rod was my defence man in the old Monday night hockey league at the Oakville arena.
He blocked more shots than I saved and he was a steady hockey player.
After each game we would go to the Oakville House for a few .
I used to go and see Rod play baseball in Oakville with Buddy Mackey. Rod was scouted by the Kansas City Royals .
We would meet at Kelsey´s on Fairview or the Burlington Mall for a round or two.
Rod was a true friend and will be missed.
RIP Rod

So sad to hear this, and very shocked. First played baseball with Rod in Oakville when he was a junior call-up to the senior team. Many years and many baseball games later, he never changed. Always happy playing the game, and then re-playing it over a few cold ones. Roddy will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Big Guy!

My sincer condolences to Rod's family. My husband, (Derrick Pearce) and I knew Rod for at least 30 years through the insurance industry. He was a super smart man and was very well respected amoung the adjusters, lawyers and others he worked with daily. He and my husband socilaized often and enjoyed one anothers company. They shared a favorite movie - The Sting - and had such fun challenging and quizing eachother on lines from the movie. I am so sad to hear of Rod's sudden passing and wish the family peace during this time of loss.

To all of Roddy´s family and friends....... On behalf of the Hamilton Oldtimers Baseball Organization (HOBO) 35+ & 55+ groups and the Hamilton Stealers team members and spouses we would like to offer our deepest and most sincere condolences. Rod played with the 55+ group for a few years and made a lot of friends. The Stealers have played against Rod many times over the years and built great friendships. Rod always knew how to make everyone feel comfortable around him and was a very witty and funny guy to be around. Even after Rod hung up his spikes he still made many trips to Florida to watch his beloved Oakville Golden A´s play in the Roy Hobbs World Series. I was honoured to be invited to play with them in these event and spend time with a great Roddy! RIP our friend!

I loved to hit behind Roddy because there would always be someone on base. The A´s have a big hole in the lineup that can´t be filled. See you on the diamond #24.

I first met Rod through my dad at Kelsey´s on Fairview when I was a kid back in the early to mid 80´s. I would see Rod around (mainly at Kelsey´s) over all these years and he was always his typical happy go lucky self. Rod was truly a gem and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Here´s to you Hot Rod!

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning´s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still - in each new dawn.
