BARBARA JOYCE JACQUELINE "JACKIE" GAINER

GAINER, BARBARA JOYCE JACQUELINE "JACKIE" (nee SULLIVAN) Passed away January 21, 2018 in her 91st year. She leaves this life to reunite in heaven with her loving husband Carman (2008). Jackie will be missed deeply by her daughter Sharon MacAlpine (Bruce), her grandchildren Jennifer Moore (Dave) and Jeff MacAlpine (Rowan) and her great-grandchildren Madi and Aricka Moore. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Morris and Sylvia Gainer and predeceased by her mother Cora Sullivan (1994), father Lawrence (1940), sister Lorna Daniel (2015), brother-in-law Harry Daniel (2014) and Carman's extended family: Joseph and Vivian Gainer, Myrtle and Lawrence Gourlay, Gordon and Hilda Gainer, Russell and Jean Gainer, Arthur and Evelyn Gainer, Edmund Morris, Leonard Gainer, and Jack and Theresa Baye. Retired from Canadian National Railways in 1982, Jackie was very active in her church and community - serving Holy Rosary Catholic Women's League, Meals on Wheels and the Seniors Centre in Milton until her health began to wane in 2014. A special thanks to Drs. Danny Sapir, Walter Koslowski, Lawrence Chau and Lily Huang who managed her complicated medical conditions for so many years, enabling her to live on her terms. Thank you as well to the staff at Birkdale Retirement Home and Westbury Long Term Care for their care and compassion. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW), on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Nativity of our Lord Parish on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Milton to be held at a later date.
