GIANPIERO BIGIONI Obituary

BIGIONI, GIANPIERO It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gianpiero Bigioni on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at age 68. He was lovingly surrounded by his family and friends in his final moments. He is survived by his loving wife Teresa, his three adoring children Carmela, Andrew, and Gianpaolo, his older brother Alfredo, and sisters Rosanna and Lina, along with his many loving in-laws, adoring cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers Augusto, Secondo and sister Giorgia. Born on February 1, 1953, in Civitanova Marche, Italy, to Pietro Bigioni and Pasqualina Pecorari, Gianpiero later immigrated to Canada on August 4, 1969. He began a career in construction at the age of 16 and was a pillar of the Toronto construction community for more than 50 years. He helped build some of the city's most important and foundational infrastructure; from streetcar tracks to bridges to buildings, Gianpiero built a lasting legacy in Toronto. Gianpiero was a proud family man. He married the love of his life Teresa Peligra on March 31, 1984, and together they raised three wonderful children. Despite all his accomplishments, his proudest moments were when he became a father and he did not miss an opportunity to express how much he loved his kids. Gianpiero will be remembered as a kind and generous soul who would do anything for his friends and family. Gianpiero's presence was unmistakable; he was the life of the party and kept people laughing. His sarcastic wit, infectious and relentless smile, striking blue eyes and kind and compassionate spirit won't be soon forgotten. Gianpiero will be dearly missed by his many friends and family in Canada, Italy and around the world. The family will receive guests at the Highland Funeral Home.
