INESSA ELIAS Obituary

ELIAS, INESSA April 28, 1924 - November 28, 2022 It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Inessa Elias of Toronto, Ontario, on November 28, 2022, after a short illness. Inessa was predeceased by her husband, Arno Elias, in 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Alina Walters Matus; and her son-in-law, Vladimir Matus. Inessa was born in Poland, and immigrated to Canada in 1950 where she met the love of her life, Arno. Marriage in Jamaica was followed by a year in Switzerland, before settling in Toronto and their beloved Georgian Bay. There followed years of designing and constructing their ideal home on a magical island, wintering in Florida, and creating and cherishing countless friendships along the way. Inessa was a consummate hostess whose home was always filled with laughter. She was one of a kind, fun-loving, outgoing and vivacious. Always elegant, a lover of opera and ballet, a connoisseur of fine champagne and a fan of medieval British history. But she was also a lover of the outdoors, an avid boater, and a skilled gardener and tamer of chipmunks. Above all though, she was a mother, a joy to be around, and a loyal and devoted friend with a heart of gold. Inessa will be missed more than words could express by her family and friends, and her smile will remain forever in our hearts. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Russell Hill Retirement Residence for their care and attending to Inessa's needs throughout her stay. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A scattering of ashes ceremony and a Celebration of her Life will take place on her beloved Georgian Bay Island in 2023.
