Juergen Mummenhoff Obituary

MUMMENHOFF, Juergen Peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 9th, 2008 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Carol. Loving father of Kirsten and her husband John. Devoted Opa of Georgia and Noah. Dear brother to Inge, Ursel, Marlies, Uwe and Evi. Predeceased by his eldest brother, Rudolf. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Juergen will also be sadly and deeply missed by many dear friends and fellow barbershoppers. Born in Germany, he immigrated to Canada in 1962 where he worked first as a cabinet maker and then at Ontario Hydro for over 25 years. A gentle, kind soul with a courageous spirit, Juergen passionately enjoyed working with wood, music and singing, travel, outdoor adventures, photography and all of nature's gifts. He brought peace and joy to all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the Toronto General Hospital and the generosity of his organ donor and their family for Juergen's last 15 years of life. Donations to either The Liver Transplantation Research Fund of the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation, Harmonize For Speech Fund or Rainforest Conservation Fund would be appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy. A Celebration of Juergen's life will take place on Friday, February 15th. Friends may visit at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
