KENNETH TOWSLEY Obituary

KENNETH IVAN TOWSLEY We are sad to announce that Ken passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Huntsville Hospice in Muskoka. During the last 9 years with courageous determination to live life to the fullest, in spite of metastatic colon cancer and 66 chemo treatments, Ken enjoyed 4 grandchildren's weddings, the birth of his first great-grandchild and trips to Newfoundland, Australia, Mexico and France. Ken was born January 14, 1931 in Fort William (Thunder Bay). His parents were Fred Towsley and Maude (Ashby). He leaves his loving wife Gunta and his older brothers, Ted (Edna) and Ralph (Susan), (Bob died in Belgium in 1944); his children Bill (Karen), John (Kelly), Ann Lyttle (Yale) and Susan McQuattie (Colin); his step-sons Kevin Pasquino (Lesley) and David Pasquino (Diana Tamblyn). Wonderful grandchildren Melanie, Jessica, Scott, Laura, Christi, Dustin, Kieran, Devin, Gabriel, Zachary, Rosalind and great-granddaughter Kensi will miss his kindness and support. Ken graduated from University of Toronto Trinity College, was a teacher in Streetsville, principal in Bells Corners, school inspector in Pembroke at the age of 35 and an Education Officer for the Ontario Ministry of Education at Queen's Park. Ken retired to Muskoka in Ullswater. Ken was philosophical and he loved sailing and the open water, building and renovating, driving his Argo, cutting and chopping trees in the bush and travelling -- especially to Isla Mujeres. Visitation will be Friday, April 18 from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Anglican Church Ullswater/Bent River, 1019 Deebank Rd.; a memorial service will be held at Windermere United Church, in the village of Windermere, Ontario Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. Reception at Ullswater Community Centre, 1503 Old Parry Sound Rd.
