LAWRENCE HILL Obituary

LAWRENCE WILSON HILL It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Hill, a much-loved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother and friend. Larry died on January 2, 2014, following a brief illness. Cherished husband of Marnie Hill. Loving father to Paul (Lianne), Bruce (Jodi) and Don (Gennifer). Devoted step-father to Heather Sally (Kevin) and Richard Pragnell (Julie). Exceptionally proud grandfather to Adam, Cassie, Lexi, Jack, Makenzie, Jaiden, Ross, Owen, Addysen, Brayden and Ethan. He will be sadly missed by his brother Douglas (Joan), his family and countless cousins and friends. Born on July 7, 1941 in Toronto, Larry was the beloved son of Wilson and Elizabeth Hill. Larry was a thoughtful, kind, generous and family-focused man. He and Marnie thrived in planning and hosting family gatherings. He was the glue that kept our family connected - his family meant the world to him. Larry's lifelong friendships are a testament to his loyal and steadfast character. Larry was an intellectual, who graduated from the University of Toronto and Stanford University. He had a respectable and fulfilling career at IBM. Larry was an avid bridge player and keen skier. Forever supportive to his family, we always knew that Larry had our backs. Larry will be sorely missed by all who knew him. There will be a celebration of Larry's life, held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

I miss my dear brother. He was kind, gentle, helpful and capable. He was a good friend. Love, Douglas.
I think this quotation is apt:
Then, when life is done for me,
Let love be my legacy.

Marnie, I never had the pleasure of meeting Larry but while sharing close office space with you, I had a peripheral view into how full, warm and wonderful your family life was. How fortunate you were and are to have built such an amazing home and life together with him. I'm sure he was wonderful man and my thoughts are with you at this terribly difficult time.

Larry was my last manager at IBM when I retired in 1993. I enjoyed the times we had lunch on my return visits to Toronto. I regret that I was unable to see him on my last trip. Marnie, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family at this sad news. I have lost a respected friend.
