MICHAEL ANDERSON Obituary

MICHAEL MURRAY ANDERSON August 28, 1939 - December 23, 2013 At his beloved Tirnanog Farm (Land of Peace), in Campbellford, Ontario surrounded by his family, Mike passed away on December 23, 2013 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of the late Wendy Anderson (nee Powell). Husband and best friend to Sheila Holmes. Loving father of Jackie (Scott), Susie (Jonathan) and Judy (Kevin), and step- father of Emily (Scott) and devoted grandfather "Gubby" to Abigail and Tessa, Michael, Megan and Kaitlyn. He was predeceased by his father James Anderson, and survived by his mother Anne Anderson (nee Murray), brother Ross (Janice) Anderson, sister Elizabeth (Graham) Anderson, brother-in-law Ken (Penny) Powell, and sisters-in-law Sheila (the late George) Avery and Susan (Claude) Cousineau and his many nieces and nephews. Mike grew up in Toronto and raised his family there. He worked at Southam Murray Printing, Ronalds Printing and Outward Bound. Following retirement and his marriage to his Fair Lady Sheila, he moved to his "soul place", Tirnanog Farm where he lived a full life with love for his family, friends and community. After a short illness it was Mike's wish to come home to Tirnanog and with his daughters, and his wife Sheila this was honoured. Mike hopefully now has the answers to many of life's questions that he pondered and is delighting in the mysteries finally known. The twinkle in his eye and his mischievous grin will be missed. There will be no visitation but there will be a service on Friday, January 3rd at Armour Heights Presbyterian Church, 105 Wilson Avenue (1 block east of Avenue Road) at 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Mike's life at the Cricket Club 12-3 p.m. (141 Wilson Avenue). There will also be an Open House at Tirnanog Farm in the weeks to follow. Donations can be made to the Campbellford Rotary Club or a charity of your choice.

Dear Sheila,Jackie,Suzie & Judy,
I am so sorry I was unable to attend the service for Michael today. I had planned to be there, got up @ 6:30 A.M. (that's early for Lady Jane) was watching the T.V. for the road reports and finally decided about 8:45 A.M., with all the ice they were reporting under the snow, it was just too risky. The storm that hit the states, hit us out here in Ancaster and the roads were very icy and treacherous. I just spoke to Ann Kedwell and she says they are not that bad in Toronto. I wanted to be there and give my support, share memories with old friends, and just let all of you know, how sad and far too soon, his passing is. Please know that my heart and thoughts were with all of you, he was a great guy and will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to all of you.

Dear Sheila and family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I remember such wonderful times on the squash court, with both he and Wendy --- we would stay at the Granite until all hours "Solving all the World's Problems" --- many a time Mike came over to pick Wendy & I up at the Granite, after we got into some mischief!!! and -- so we could adhere to the rules of "don't drink and drive.!!!!!"
He truly was a fun person to be around and yes that twinkle was always in his eye!!
My heart goes out to all of you -- he will be missed.
Love "Lady Jane Powell"

Dear Jackie, Susie and Judy,
i am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He and I shared many wonderful canoe trips from Tanamakoon through Algonquin Park including the first five day trip the camp ever had. He was great fun to be with, so caring and kind and so considerate to the campers. He was such a special addition to the camp experience during those years for so many of us. my thoughts are with all of you.
