Phyllis leaves behind six wonderful grandchildren Kristen, Nicole, William, Danny, Josie and Khalil and three great- grandchildren Ethan, Alyssa, and Liam. She began her life in Toronto; sporty and athletic, she helped create Etobicoke Collegiate's first cheerleading squad. Phyllis became a nurse at Toronto Western Hospital, before marrying and raising a family in Etobicoke. She is remembered for her wonderfully creative Halloween costumes, summers in Muskoka and her enthusiasm for party games! Phyllis returned to the workforce in her late fifties, demonstrating what hard work, courage and determination are really all about. She loved to read and to travel and to learn. Phyllis was, and remains an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. As per her wishes, Phyllis will be cremated, with interment and a celebration of her life, in the spring.

Betty Dyson Roberts Roberts

February 24, 2014

I am sorry to hear that Phyllis passed. I am Betty Dyson Roberts, I grew up in Islington across the street from Joan. I live in St. George Utah. I knew Phyllis well until we moved to Ut. when I was 14. I loved her dearly. I was a bridesmaid at her wedding. I have beautiful black & white original photo's of the wedding. She was a great example to me. I too went to Etobicoke, I'm 81, one christmas we both got figure skates and took lessons to-gether. The last time I saw her was 1981 when I stayed over night at her apt. on my way back to the states after driving a daughter to Niagara where she lived for a short time. If you would like the pictures I have you are welcome. She was my idol. Beautiful in every way. Sincerely, Betty Dyson

I had the pleasure of working with Phyllis for several years at DRE. She was always smiling and was such a joy to be around. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.
