Roy Bogusky Obituary

THE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE ROY EDWARD BOGUSKY Passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Beloved husband of 48 years to Irene (nee Afaganis). Loving father of Tanya (Paul Ghazar), Katherine and Leanne. Proud grandpa to Adelaide and Estelle. Survived by his brothers Don (Dorothy), Frank (Joyce) and Alf (Ann). Predeceased by his parents Frank and Mildred Bogusky (nee Kostelnik). In 1973, at the age of 34, Roy was the youngest appointed Judge to the Ontario Court of Justice. He served 17 years in Dryden, Ontario and 19 years in Newmarket, Ontario, until the time of his retirement in 2009. His family always came first. We knew when Dad was around, we would be loved, protected and there would be many laughs. He summed everything up near the end with, "We had a good run, didn't we? If I had asked for anything more out of life, I'd have been greedy". A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Taylor Funeral Home - Newmarket Chapel, 524 Davis Dr., Newmarket, 905-898-2100. Guests are welcome to gather from 1:00 p.m. until Words of Remembrance at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held in Lethbridge, Alberta, at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorfh.ca

During my years with the OPP in Ignace Ontario, there were many occasions when Roy and my fellow officers saw the wisdom and decency in his Court. We used to have a bonspiel we named after him, a lot of fun where he was just "one of the guys". A good man. My condolences to Roy's family.
