Ruth Dobson Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the age of 77. Loving wife of Doug for 45 years. Cherished sister of Jean (the late Jack Murton). Beloved aunt of Keith (Christina) Murton and Elaine (Ron) Rolfe. Proud great-aunt of Adam. Ruth will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends. A Graveside Service will take place on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mt. Pleasant Road, Toronto; please meet at the cemetery office at 10:45 a.m. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the SickKids Foundation. Online condolences may be left at

I had the pleasure of knowing Ruth and Doug since 2002. As their dentist, I saw them both often. It was such a shock to hear that Ruth had passed on. She and I had discussions about everything under the sun. I admired her patience, the way she looked at life, and her sense of calm. But most of all, I admired the love and respect she and Doug showed to each other. My assistant, Maria, and I will miss Ruth very much. We both extend our heartfelt condolences to Doug and to other members of Ruth's family.

Ruth was not only a valued colleague and sister school secretary but also a dear friend. Upon my early retirement she hired me as her part time assistant at Earl Beatty School. We were fortunate to be able to keep in touch with lunch dates even after we both retired. Will always remember her love of big cuddly teddy bears which she eventually planned to donate to Sick Kids Hospital. Condolences to Doug, the love of her life, and also her sister Jean and her children. Ruth was always the glue and she loved them so. Sorry that I am unable to attend as I am out of the country. My thoughts will be with you.
