Dear Lea and Alex.
It was with great sadness that I heard of Steve's passing. I was a childhood friend of Steve's attending both Warnica Public and Innisdale Secondary School's together so many years ago. As kids, we spent a great deal of time together with Rob Matton and Rob Letcher enjoying our youth with not a care in the world. I still have many fond memories of those times and of Steve. A good friend of mine, Dr. Steve Rallis, purchased the Carleton's Barrie family home and now has a Chiropractic and Wellness clinic there. I just spoke to Dr. Rallis this morning (December 29th) and shared the sad news. Each time I step through the front door of the clinic, I am taken back 35 years!
I am also saddened that I was not able to attend Steve's funeral having only just heard of his passing.

He will always be fondly remembered.

Dear Lea and Alex: I'm one of your neighbors (#14), I just wanted to say that I'm saddened by the loss of your husband/father, Steve. I would never know until your sister, Lisa, approached me saying that he passed away. When I heard that, I was shocked and it reminded me of how I felt when my first husband passed away in 1995 leaving me with 2 young daughters. All I can say is that God has a purpose for your lives, He will never let you in vain, be strong and have faith that Steve will never leave you in spirit, he will always be there to protect both of you, I know because it happened to me... Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of pain.

God bless you,

Dear Lea and Alex,

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Steve's passing. Although I have never met either of you, I would like you to know that I knew and grew up with Steve as a boy in Painswick, ON (which is now an indistiguishable part of Barrie south).

Steve, myself and another of his old friends, Robert Matton, were close in the two last years of Public school (Warnica P.S. in Painswick). I remember in high school (Innisdale S.S.) when Steve told us he wanted to be a policeman. He fulfilled his career dream, and from all accounts was a fine officer, and husband and father.

I remember Steve all those years ago that now seem like they were yesterday, although I have not seen Steve in perhaps 15 or so years. I remember Steve as a good friend and can recall many good times we had as boys.

I extend my sincerest condolances to you and your families, and in particular Steve's parents and sister Lisa, whom I also knew all those years ago.

I will remeber Steve fondly, and may he rest in peace. May Steve remain forever in the collective memory of those those who knew and loved him.

Im sorry to hear about Steves death. I worked with Steve at 31 Div and found him to be a good solid Police officer. He used to always quiz me on the older hot rod cars as he knew I had a chevelle and he was also buying a chevelle. I remember fixing his pontiac which was several years old at the time. You felt that you had to be vacumed off to sit in it. You would purposely leave a grease smudge to see if he would notice ( and he allways did). Steve was a good man and a good cop he will be missed. Dear Lea

I was shocked to hear of Steve's death. I always knew him to be a loving husband and an Adoring father. He will be missed by his Police Brothers. He was always upbeat and positive. I can't remember him being Negative about anything (except maybe a bad Golf shot which I'm sure he blamed on me).
Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that he will be in our prayers.

Dear Lea and family:

We are deeply sadden with this sudden news of Steve's passing. Steve went to school with my two boys Jeff and Shawn and through this connection became my friend for many years. We spent many summers with Steve at Wasaga Beach, where routinely he would stop by our cabin in the evening to play cards and most often won the money. His passion was family, golf and his beloved black Chrysler, and I should also mention his profession. I was always worried about him as he worked in a very tough neighbourhood and he would often talk with great pride about his many exploits and how he loved his job. One particular and humorous occasion was when the police force provided him with a bicycle to chase thiefs. So one day he is chasing the bad guys on his bike when he came to a dead end street and had to leave the bike to continue the chase on foot. When he returned to retrieve his bike, someone had stolen it. I guess that was the end of the bike program. I have golfed several times with Steve, and you could always depend on him to come out and support my granddaughter's hockey team by participating in her teams golf tournament. Steve had some medical problems throughout his life and I will always remember his positive attitude towards these issues which he never complained about and simply strived to enjoyed his life to the fullest. My wife and I regret that we will not be able to attend the services for Steve, due to previously arranged doctors appointments, but please know that our thoughts are with you and the family, and that we will miss Steve immensely.

Steve visted my home not to long ago. He was happy energetic and his usual chatty self. He spoke of his cottage his fishing adventures that we went on and compared notes on teenage girls. The smile in the photo posted sums up Steves outlook on life.

Steve, we love you, we miss you already and will never, ever forget you. You had such a love of life and truly enjoyed it's rewards with gratitude. You were an exceptional father to Alex; I have never seen such a relationship between any parent and child, ever. Rest peacefully in the hands of your Lord.
Lea and Alex, there are really no words that I can offer in this unthinkable time except to say we love you and we are sorry and we are here for you; anytime and in anyway. Take good care of each other. In time may you find peace in knowing that he is safe with his Lord and will undoubtedly watch over you every single day.
Love and heartfelt sympathy, Sergio, Luciana, Matthew and Marco
