My first visit to your grave was today
where I placed a yellow flower for you and prayed

A sense of closure is what I was after,
so I know more about plasp's most important chapter.

I have no memories for I joined so late. I wanted to meet you so I came to your grave,
I spoke for hours and tried to be brave
but I couldnt' help those tears I couldn't save.

I plan to be there to visit you on every important day,
my word I promise I will not betray.

blue and yellow Flowers I will always bring with words of sentiment,
I hope my actions of loyalty and love are evident.

Remember when my visit is over as I turn to leave,
I will always return is what I promise you can always believe.

I walked away from the most important chapter of PLASP.
But the funny thing, I felt like you were walking with me..Made my heart so glad

It was the brilliance of your soul that flooded my senses
it was the radiance of knowing what and who you are,
That energised my heart and blessed it

Sylvia Leal was a gracious lady with a mischievious twinkle in her eye. As a person, I appreciated her support during a bad time in my life. As a parent, I appreciated the excellent quality of services which PLASP delivered to my daughter. As a professional, I appreciated her tremendous contribution to our child care community. Sylvia was able to recognize and nurture the best in everyone. That made her a great leader and a great person.

"The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not not weak; be bold, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly."
Sylvia, that was the kind of leader you were!! I often referred to you as the Oprah of PLASP. You were one of a kind!!! This was not just a job for you but rather a calling. Your passion and zeal for life is an inspiration to all of us! You will truly be missed but never forgotten!! I will always remember you as a remarkable woman!! My deepest condolences are sent to your family at this time. I know that there are no words that I can say, so please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers! Let us not focus on what was lost but rather, let us focus on what was left to us by Sylvia; her legacy and spirit!! May they continue to live on forever through all of us!!!
Much Love,

Malcolm, Suzanne and Sharon, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I am not sure I can express what Sylvia meant to my mom, dad and myself. It is difficult to capture in words. I do know as a child that participated in PLASP programs in its early days, I remember having a welcoming, safe, engaging and fun place to be outside of school hours. Only now as an adult and a working parent with children of my own, do I think I can truly appreciate Sylvia's vision, dedication, and passion to the care of children. She can rest knowing she has impacted a generation of children, and I am proud to be one of them. Sylvia will be forever missed.

Although I only met you on a few occasions, your warmth and dedication to children was so evident. PLASP gave me one of my first opportunities to work with children, and I believe I am the teacher I am today due in part to some of the amazing experiences I had working for you. The world may have lost you, but heaven has gained an angel. God Bless.

I find this to be very hard to find the right words that fit a lady like yourself Sylvia. I loved the way you were honest with yourself and kept us honest with ourselves. Your vision and work you did not only with plasp will be forever remembered in my heart. I stumble with the words as I still cant believe that your time is up with us all. Heaven is in for a shock! I'm sure you will keep every body busy and if they shy away, you will find a way for them to shine. My prayers are with all your family and pray that everyone will find the strength to go on as you would have wanted.

We have lost a special person. Sylvia was many things to me - my boss, my colleague, my mentor, my champion, my confidante, but most of all, my friend. She was this and more to so many. There is a generation of children in Peel who got at least three hugs a day thanks to Sylvia. There are thousands of staff who grew and developed beyond their wildest dreams thanks to Sylvia. There are countless child care professionals who broadened their visions of what could be and should be thanks to Sylvia.
I cannot begin to express my sorrow to Malcolm, Suzanne and Sharon, all of whom I value as my friends.

If I can be of service to a child in need,
If I can help those babies, prosper and succeed,
If I could help somebody with a thought or a deed,
Then my living shall not be in vein.

Sylvia,
I have no words to tell how may heart hurts right now. I have worked in many fields and for many leaders but you are the first that has been able to make a workplace a true family and a home. You stood as an advocate for the children and fought for world class, affordable childcare for them. No matter their parent's income or social status, a child needed care, you accepted as many as you could, and fought for more.
My son was one of those children. At one time he didn't need the program and begged to stay because of what you worked to create. Because of him, I became a Plasp staff member and came to realize the amount of work you put in to ensuring we saw your vision. You took our love for children, equipped us with the tools to be the best for those children and allowed us to shine, for them.
I will miss you with all my heart and I pray that God will wrap His loving arms around your husband, your children and your family and give them comfort.
God Bless you, dear Sylvia.
