Dick WILSON Obituary

WILSON, Dick January 5, 1931 - May 26, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dick Wilson. Dick passed at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria on Monday May 26, 2014 with loving family at his bedside. The youngest of five children, Dick joined the military at an early age and served his country proudly for 25 years, becoming the youngest Sargent in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery at the time. A man of deep and sincere faith, Dick was a member of the Friendship Community Baptist Church of North Saanich for many years and was much loved by his fellow parishioners. He will be remembered as a man who placed the love of family and selfless charity above all else, saying before his passing that he was blessed with the best children and grandchildren one could ever have. He was also known for his great sense of humour and one-liners; he found humour in all aspects of life and brightened even the darkest of times. Strong of body and mind all through his life, his greatest strength was his love for anyone and everyone around him no matter who they were or what they believed, and though he was quick to tell you where he stood on things, no disagreement ever ended without a reaffirmation of his love for you. He will be missed. Dick is predeceased by his wife Joan, and his daughters Carlenne and Deborah. He is survived by his son Robbie Wilson, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Dick Wilson was 83 years old. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Friendship Community Church at 7820 Central Saanich Rd. in North Saanich off the Pat Bay Highway and Mount Newton Cross Rd.

Dick was a great man and great friend for about 30 years. We will miss him and his one-liners but we know that he is now free of pain and suffering.
