Douglas LAUBER Obituary

LAUBER, Douglas H. March 8, 1920 - January 1, 2013 On January 1, 2013, Doug passed away peacefully at Gorge Road Hospital, Waterview Unit, in Victoria, BC. He is survived by Florette, his loving wife of 66 years, daughters Arlene Longley (Dave) and Brenda Cotta, grandchildren Mathew Cotta, Melanie Cotta (Steve Shaw), and great-grandchildren Blake and Bella Shaw. Born in Sudbury, ON, Doug joined the RCMP in Ottawa on July 30, 1940 and during his 26 years with the force he served in Edmonton, AB, St. Albert, AB, Bonnyville, AB, Calgary, AB, Fredericton, NB, Regina, SK, and Ottawa, ON, retiring from there on July 29, 1966. He then embarked on a second career with Carleton University as an Administrator in General Services for 20 years before retiring again, this time to Victoria where he could play golf year round. He was a member of the Gorge Vale Golf Club for 23 years during which time he recorded 2 holes-in-one. The family would like to thank the staff on floor 6C at the General Hospital as well as the staff at Gorge Road Hospital, Waterview Unit, for their kindness, care and support. At Doug's request there will be no service.

Our Hearts are with you in this time of sorrow. Arlene and Florette, I only met Doug once when I visited Victoria, and I thought how lucky you were to have such a wonderful, gentle Father/Husband. You will miss him, but he will always be in your hearts. Love and Hugs, Carol
