Hans Herbert FROESE

FROESE, Hans Herbert Passed away December 30, 2011 in Victoria. He leaves a loving wife Judith Sharpe, four children Christine (Froese) Tevlin, John Froese, Michael and Andy Mityok, five grandchildren Lisanne, James and Josh Tevlin, and Amelia and Caitlin Froese, daughter-in-law Jantina Froese and son-inlaw Tom Tevlin, sister-in-law Jenni Sharpe and brother-in-law Adrian Biffen, and his wonderful mother-in-law Glen Sharpe. Hans was born to Hans and Gertrude Froese in Golden BC on October 5th 1932. He was an early computer programmer with UNIVAC, taught at BCIT, was an amateur inventor, a psychiatric social worker, and a co-founder of land co-op Redlands on Cortes Island. He loved to laugh and tell stories, particularly about his childhood as one of the only children in the Tulsequah mining camp where his dad was engineer. He was a member of the Alpine Club of Canada, and loved to travel and visit museums with Judith. He dealt with his Alzheimer's with dignity. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Victoria General who helped him die peacefully. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday January 14th 3-6pm at the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo (595 Townsite Road Nanaimo).
