Lexie Stephen Obituary

STEPHEN, Lexie Beatrice
July 1, 1922 - April 16, 2023
Lexie passed away on April 16th, just shy of her 101st birthday. She was born in Scotland to parents Lewis and Beatrix. The family moved to Canada and settled in Port Alberni when Lexie was a young girl.
She and her 5 brothers and sisters were all raised there.
Lexie joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps bagpipe band during WW2 where she played the drums. Her sister, Helen and her sister-in-law, Isobel were also in the band playing the bagpipes. Lexie and Helen also performed highland dancing with the band. The CWAC pipe band was renowned for its excellence and it toured through Canada, the US and Europe. The members of the band remained lifelong friends and had many reunions through the years.
Lexie worked for many years at the Jubilee Hospital in the payroll office and she retired as the paymaster. Lexie loved to travel and had many wonderful trips with her friends and family.
She was very creative and excelled in all her pursuits like sewing, knitting, ceramics, and even hat making.
Lexie is predeceased by her parents and her siblings.
Many thanks to the staff at Parkwood Place, Parkwood Court and Dr. Hugh Down for their care. Lexie is missed.
