Werner Bartels Obituary
BARTELS, Werner Franz Born February 27, 1921 in Kiel, Germany. It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Werner on October 2, 2010 at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital's Palliative Care Unit with his family at his side. Predeceased by his parents, Otto and Magda, and brother Guenther. Survived by his wife Gerda, son Klaus (Carole), daughters Brigitte (Bob) and Stephanie (Richard), grandchildren Stefan, Adrian, Emily and Stefanie, and great granddaughters Lorelai, Adelyne and Maelle. We wish to thank Dr. Amanda Naismith and the physicians and nurses at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation. Our sailor has set sail once again, and we will miss him. 605958

I cherish the memories of visits by Werner to my dental office. He was a lovely person. Condolences to the Family.

I was advised by a friend in Victoria of Werner's passing and I just wanted to add my condolences.
He was a great sailing companion when we worked together at Canada Permanent and we shared many wonderful weekends around the islands enjoying the scenery and Gerda's care packages.
He was a gentle man and never let his physical difficulties stand in the way of living a full life
Despite not having seen him for many years I often recall our times together and cherish the memory.
