It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of George Michael on January 19, 2023 at the age of 82. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 60 years Alice, son Doug (Ana), daughter Dawn (he called her Princie), grandchildren Morgan (he called her Little Princie), Alyssa, and Michael, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Jan and Maria and his 7 older siblings John, Mary, Beno, Milan, Bill, David and Suzie. George was born and raised in Port Robinson Ontario and moved to St. Catharines soon after marriage. He was a very hard-working man. Most of his working life was spent in St. Catharines running Sadler's Auto Electric and then at Foster Wheeler for over 30 years, first working on large commercial boilers, and then as a quality control inspector. It was in this role that he also worked on nuclear reactors, even travelling to Seoul, South Korea on assignment. But his passion was music, and he played the bugle in the Sea Cadets and later learned the saxophone, clarinet and could also play some guitar and piano. He enjoyed music so much that he started a DJ company, called Gadd-About-Music, and for over 20 years he and his various DJs entertained thousands of people at weddings, parties and other events. He was the best DJ in town. George was always the life of the party and a very social person. He had a big heart and a great sense of humour. He was very athletic in his younger days and played hockey and pitched in baseball. He loved playing cards and had a special bond with Morgan's dog Riley. He was known as "Pop Pop" to his grand dogs Riley and Winnie. He enjoyed many cottage vacations with family and amazing trips to Disney World, a place he absolutely loved. He will be greatly missed but will be forever in our hearts and memories. Never to be forgotten. Family welcome friends to Pleasantview Funeral Home, 2000 Merrittville Highway, Thorold on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will held in the Chapel Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
