Hi Margaret:
It was nice too chat with you a few evenings ago and reminsce about the good old days.
Men never grow up and I as my wife will agree don't want to.
This brings me to the last time I met Dave although sadly at Marty Vallee's wake.
Marty was a great guy who always had a smile and a friendly way.
At the wake I only knew Pat Latimer and Dave. I was a bit uncomfortable and both Pat and Dave seemed to sense this and introduced me to many people there and also Marty's wife and children and made me feel part of the group.
I really appreciated this jesture and thought what great people they are.
Dave sought me out and called me Gordie my childhood name not Gord as I am called now at the ripe old age of 57.
I was very emotional(as wakes tend to make us)when he addressed me as Gordie (as my Mom and Dad and sister always did and Gordon if I was bad).
Of course I was thinking of them and all the loved ones that I had lost.
We spoke of the good old days and the fact that both Marty's ; Pat's and your families had grown up together.
I was so impressed how he spoke of your families and after meeting them how Marty's and Pat's sons were such fine youg men.
He spoke of how lucky he was to have you as a wife and friend. He mentioned how crazy and fun loving he was in his late teens and early twenties but that you were his stabling influence being such an outstanding mature young nurse dealing with your patients and their illnesses.
Boy I was lucky to know Dave just a friendly, kind and giving guy.
In short it is not how many breaths we take but how many times life takes our breaths away. Dave lived his life this way!!!
Please accept my deeepest sympathies at this difficult time to you and your daughters and family and the Jodoin family.
Signed Gordie

Dear Marg, Aimee, and Danielle,
When we visited Ottawa this summer,we were so happy and blessed to spend even a little time with your family (sorry we missed you Danielle) and it was great to finally meet Dave in person. What a great guy! When we heard of his passing, we were deeply saddened for your whole family. We, your extended family, also feel this loss, the frustration for the unfairness of it all, and the desire to let you know how much we love you all. Be strong for each other but allow yourself time to grieve.
Our condolences to Uncle Dan, Dan and Caro, Tim and Lynn.
With Love, your western cousins

Marg:
I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your best friend and love of your life. It was very apparent to the staff in Emergency that day that a great one had left this world.I hope it is some comfort to you that you were beside Dave as he began his final journey. The Nurses and Physicians knew that Dave was a man who was well loved and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with you...

When I first saw this page I wasn’t sure if I should post any thoughts upon it. As the week went by and the memories, and stories of Dave filtered through I felt compelled to.
I didn’t know Dave a real long time. I was a casual acquaintance who worked at James Street for a few years in the mid-90s. During those years I witnessed many faces come and go. For the most part, many of us, and our core of regulars were truly like a family.
A day, or even an hour, wouldn’t go by without a familiar face come strolling in to sit at the Island to spend a break in their day with us. Comfort was a big reason why.
Dave, he made everyone around him comfortable. I often observed people of all ages interact with him, as if he was a close friend. Someone you could count on. Weather it be for a brief conversation, advice on car troubles, or for his “gold star pick of the day”.
Dave was a class act, a family man. He was the father to his own, the head of the Capital Dominion family, and he was also a “larger-than life” part of the James Street family.
The greatest thing about us humans; our spirit lives on within the ones we touch.
My sincere condolences to Margaret, Aimee, Danielle, and the whole Jodoin family.
Dano.

Dave,
This summer I wrote you a note thanking you for everything and telling you that I wish that you were my dad. I never gave it to you because I thought it was pretty lame (it kinda was). Thank you for being a part of my life. You always told me I was a good kid even I wasn’t entirely, I needed that. Your family has affected all of us growing up; leading through example, keeping us together; communities need social butterflies like the Jodoins. Just witnessing the love in your home has helped me develop into a more well rounded adult. We are so lucky to have had you.
Your absence is like a thread and every moment is stitched with its colour.
Thank you for Danielle. I LOVE her so so much.

Our sincerest sympathies to Margaret, Aimee & Danielle.
There is a saying that the true measure of a life well lived is in the number of friends one accumulates. If that's the case, then Dave's life was very well lived because the friends he made were countless. David Jodoin was the kind of person who left an indelible impression on you. Always quick with a smile and something funny to share. Dave, you were a great buddy & lifetime friend, it was an honor to have known you. You will always be missed and forever loved in our treasured memories.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of David's untimely death. When we were growing up, we were neighbours on Highcroft Avenue, and amongst the 10 kids in both families, childhood friendships formed, and our paths crossed many times in our adult years. Not unlike all his siblings, I remember David always having a big smile on his face. He was part of a lovely family, and my sincere condolences to all of you. I'm sure he'll be terribly missed.

My deepest sympathies for your loss! Dave had hired me as a driver at his shop nearly 20 years ago as I was putting myself through university. I have to say that he was the nicest boss I’ve ever had: he was kind, generous and full of life. I still remember with fondness the times he used to drive me home from work in his little Fiat convertible while recounting various funny stories but still managing to impart so words of wisdom to me. He will be greatly missed.
