Shirley Loraas 1941 2007 LORAAS The passing of Shirley Mary Loraas, age 65, occurred on Sunday, January 14th, 2007, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Stuart) Bell Calgary, AB, Sharon (Myron) Bell Saskatoon, SK; two sons, Michael (Denise) Loraas Redwater AB, Steven (Cherie) Loraas Saskatoon, SK; seven grandchildren, Sharilin, Chad, Travis, Ashley, Brooklyn, Thomas and Andrianna; seven brothers and sisters, Ronald (Muriel) Dancer, Bob (Wendy) Dancer, Marilyn Buchanan, Audrey (Don) Solberg, Debbie (Morgan) Diettrick, Noreen (Brad) Littler, Cindy (Kevin) Hawbolt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Loraas; and parents, Arnold and Evelyn Dancer. Shirley was born in Unity, SK, and came to Saskatoon in her teen years residing here most her life. In 1990, she moved to BC, but returned back to Saskatoon in 2003 after Melvin had passed away. She worked with Home Care looking after the elderly. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, dancing, bowling and southern vacations. Mom had cultivated and made many friends in the A.A. program. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before the railway tracks) with Reverend Carlton Miller officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Donations in Shirley's memory can be made as to the donor's choice. Family and friends may send email condolences to [email protected]. Arrangements are entrusted to HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME, Ken Scheirich 477-4400.

I worked with Shirley, saw her when she visited New Westminster after moving to Saskatoon, and exchanged e-mails. Please accept my condolances to her family. I know how important family was to Shirley. Thank you for lettting us on the West Coast know of her passing.
