David Craven
CRAVEN, David Henry Peacefully, at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland Ontario, on March 31, 2009, in his 89th year. David was predeceased by his wife Irene in 2001. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Laura Mary (Don) Buckingham, of Perth, Ontario; his sons, Ron (Linda) of Qualicum Beach, B.C., and Ken (Lucy) of Grimsby, Ontario; grandsons Glen, (Michelle) of Edmonton, Alberta, and David of Grimsby; great grandchildren Jenna and Jeremy of Edmonton; and nephews Bruce (Wendy) of Kanata and Larry of Deep River, Ontario. David was born June 5, 1920 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and moved with his family to the Norwood area of Winnipeg at an early age. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and married Irene Darling in 1941. After the war, he worked for National Drugs until his retirement in 1985, at which time he and Irene moved to Victoria B.C. There they enjoyed the company of many friends. They loved travel, especially to Hawaii. Following many years of good health on the Island, they moved in 2001 to the Niagara region of southern Ontario. David's family express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland Ontario, where David lived for the past several years. David's passions included piano and organ, bridge, cribbage, and fishing at Longbow Lake in northwestern Ontario. No funeral service at his request. In lieu of flowers, please remember The Heart and Stroke Foundation or your favorite charity. For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, And the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."
