Kenneth Nazinitsky Obituary

Dr. Kenneth Jan Nazinitsky
Dr. Kenneth Jan Nazinitsky, age 51, died Wednesday,
March 26, surrounded by his loving children and family members. Dr. Naz was HHH born June 3, 1956 in Brooklyn N.Y. and is survived by his children, Allison Nazinitsky, 22, attending her second year of medical school at Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine (N.E.O.U.C.O.M.), Danielle Nazinitsky, 22, an accountant with K.P.M.G. in New York City, Hailey Nazinitsky, 19, attending Kent State University as a pre-medicine major as a NEOUCOM BS/MD student, and Pierce Nazinitsky, 16, a sophomore at McKinley Senior High School. He is also survived by his mother, Clara Nazinitsky, of New York, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Gary Dellerson, sister –in-law Debbie Nazinitsky, and brother Roy Nazinitsky, Kathy Nazinitsky, brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Sally Shanks and Nancy and John Ference, and many nieces and nephews. His faithful and loyal friends, Dan and Karen Reusser, were always at his side throughout his illness. Ken was proceeded in death by his father, Herman Nazinitsky, and his brother, Howard Nazinitsky. Ken was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from State University of New York at Geneseo. He then earned his Master's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Kentucky , his Medical Degree at Downstate Medical School in New York, and completed his Radiology residency at the Nassau County Medical Center in New York. He moved to Canton, Ohio for a Fellowship in Ultrasound and after 2 years joined Radiology Associates of Canton (RAC) in 1988, practicing at Aultman, Allliance, and Barberton Citizens Hospitals. He held many offices within the group, including Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology, Executive Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee of RAC, Department QI Director, Ultrasound Section Director, and Chairman of Radiology at Barbarton Citizens Hospital. He is remembered by his colleagues, students and patients as a brilliant, compassionate doctor who readily involved himself with those in his care. He was a resourceful, ambitious man and had an amazing joy of teaching. He shared his enthusiasm for medicine with the Radiology Residents at Aultman Hospital, and his ingenuity with techniques will be remembered by all with whom he worked. He was also very involved with the Northeast Ohio Ultrasound Society, arranging educational seminars for technologists and radiologists. Ken had a passion for living and had great joy in teaching his children the many skills he had learned. He taught them the tools of life. He guided them to be self thinkers, self sufficient, strong minded, ambitious, loving, and to live life in a kinder, gentler manner. Dr.Naz was a true 21st century "Renaissance Man," brilliant in every area of life, from cooking to computers, to fixing cars and everything in between. Ken's thirst for knowledge and his passions were many. Gardening was one he showed his children, "in what you sow you reap." His son, Pierce, spent many hours with his father cultivating vegetables that they used to cook together. In addition, neighbors came with shopping bags to harvest bags full of tomatoes and to see what was being prepared in the kitchen. He loved guiding his daughters with their careers while providing advice. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments, not only intellectually, but as wonderful young women with beautiful hearts who loved him dearly. His spirituality grew during his illness and he developed many deep friendships with the physicians and staff on M50, the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Cleveland Clinic, who took great care of him, and his trusted physician, Dr. Kevin Dieter of Aultman Hospital. Ken was a member of Temple Israel and received comfort and support from Rabbi John Spitzer. Services for Dr. Nazinitsky were held March 28th at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel and was buried at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, Florida. There will be a memorial service at Temple Israel on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 7 p.m. with Rabbi Spitzer officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Northeast Ohio Ultrasound Society, 4566 Edwin Drive N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718 If you have special memories of Dr. Naz, his children would love to hear them. Cards may be sent to 4750 Tanglewood Cir. N.E., Canton, Ohio 44714.

Dr. Naz was a very intelligent and passionate Ultrasonologist. He was very involved with the ultrasound community and his patients. He will be greatly misssed in our ultrasound Department, at Aultman Hospital. My deepest sympathy to his family. The only thing he cared more about, than his profession, was his children. I am sorry for the loss of your father.

Much of my time has been spent thinking about Dr. Naz during the last week. The obituary described him perfectly. I was always astonished at his innovative ideas for procedures and admired his passion for ultrasound. Dr. Naz's diverse interests were also a joy for me. He was easy to converse with on a large variety of topics and I particularly enjoyed discussing gardening and religion with him.

Dr. Naz was a brilliant man and I'm sorry for his family's loss and the northeast Ohio ultrasound community's loss. I will cherish my time I was able to work with him, learn from him and allow him to drive me crazy! He will be missed by many.

Sincere sympathy and fond memories,
Carol Milligan

Dear family and friends,
I am truely sorry for your loss. I worked with Ken on NEOUS for several years and later had him come back and speak for us several times. He was always so kind and generous to our organization. He inspired me to continue his quest for education and I will miss him.

Dear Family,

While looking for the obituray of a friend, I came across this one.

I do not know you or your dad but was touched by the words in his obiturary.

It sounds like Dr. Nazintsky was a wonderful father and his daughters are beautiful young ladies because of him.

I am sorry your father is no longer with you physically, but please know you were blessed to have him in your life and to have beautiful memories to hold onto.

I am 50+ years old and attend a "Healing The Father Wound" group, which deals with the pain of not having my father in my life.
I wish I had just one memory to hold onto..but there is none.

Hold onto your memories of your dad and let them be your strength when it feels like you are not going to make it.

Hold onto to each other and let God give you the peace that only he can give during this difficult time.

Naz was a great teacher. Those of us that graduated from Aultman's ultrasound program were very lucky to have his knowledge shared with us. Naz gave us tough love, but we are all better for it. Thanks Naz. My heart goes out to the Nazinitsky family.

My deepest sympathy Pierce, Hailey, Allison, and Danielle. It was my pleasure caring for your Dad, Dr. Naz if only for a brief period. You were all such a caring loving family and your Dad loved you all very much. I'm glad I could care for your Dad and get to know each of you. May God put his arms around you and help mend your broken hearts. May your memories together give you much joy and stay in your hearts forever. Your Dad loved Daniel and Karen very much and they will help you through this difficult time. I'm sure he knows they will be there for you anytime. You are very much a part of their family. Your Dad would want you to continue to love and care about each other. My heart breaks for each of you. You know your Dad is in a much better place and no longer in pain. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Family of Kenny's-
I have known your father for many years. I met him when Kathy dated him in college. I have been a friend of the Shank's family for years. Your father was a great man. I enjoyed knowing him in his personal life and then again while I was an Sonographer. He was so smart. He added so much to the careers of people in the Ultrasound field. But mostly I will miss his smiling face and the fun we had over the years. Even though I haven't seen him in several years, I will always consider him my friend.
I am truly sorry for your loss.
Love, Sue Taylor

Doc Naz will always be a part of the Atwood Open folklore. As bad as his golf was, that's how good his cooking and friendship were to the veterans and rookies alike in all the years he attended.
All of us who played with or against "The Doc", or ate his wings, will certainly be sharing Doc stories at this year's Open.
Our sympathy and prayers go out to his family- that he is so proud of - and all of his friends.
