Don and Jeanette Benz are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on August 31.
They met on a blind date after a performance of the Clemson Little Theater of which they were both members. They were later married in 1963 in Jeanette's hometown of Central, South Carolina and then spent the first two years of their marriage living in Newport, R.I. where Don was stationed on active duty in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps.
They moved to Atlanta in 1965 where they lived , worked and together raised their son Arthur.
In 2002, they retired and moved from Atlanta to coastal Georgia where they currently live quietly on the edge of the marsh in McIntosh County outside of Darien.
They will celebrate with their son and his family.
