AUGUSTA - Karen Denise Hardin and Michael Timothy Benton were united in marriage at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Augusta. Dr. Jacob O. Malone officiated. Karen is the daughter of Allen and Glenda Hardin of Thomson, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jeanette Beasley Coleman of Thomson, Ga. and the late Mr. James Beasley, Sr., of Hephzibah, Ga. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert James Hardin, Jr. of Lincolnton, Ga. Michael is the son of Mrs. Susan Benton and the late Mr. Charles Benton of Wilmington, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Johnson and the late Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Benton, all of Wimington, N.C. Given in marriage by her parents, Karen chose her sister, Leslie Hardin of Roswell, Ga., to serve as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Baldwin Hayden, Alissa Callahan Carpenito, both of Charlotte, N.C., Cameron Twilley Sullivan of Acworth, Ga., Amanda Wallace Todd of Evans, Ga. and Amy Dunkelberger DiLoreti of Atlanta, Ga., all friends of the bride. Michael chose his son, Michael Benton II of Wilmington, to serve as his best man and his late father, Charles Benton as the honorary best man. Groomsmen were Charles Benton II of Wilmington, Douglas Benton of Snow Camp, N.C., brothers of the groom, Trey Benton of Wilmington, nephew of the groom, and Keith Sullivan of Hampstead, N.C., friend of the groom. Charlotte Jenkins was the organist and Les Reagan was the soloist. Readers were Seth McCormick of Plano, Texas, friend of the bride, and Heather Terry of Alpharetta, Ga., cousin of the bride. Greeters were Anita Benton, sister-in-law of the groom, Jennifer Benton, niece of the groom, both of Wilmington, and Leigh Witherington of Augusta, cousin of the bride. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Marbury Center in Augusta. The newlyweds honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica. The couple resides in Charlotte, N.C.
