Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Vaughn

Morris - Vaughn

In a ceremony marked with unusual joy,

Rebecca Anne Kelly Morris and Phillip Houston Vaughn were united in marriage at 5:00 on November 17, 2018, at Second Presbyterian Church, Charleston, South Carolina. The couple chose a destination wedding to have a weekend of celebrating with their families and friends. The Reverend Doctor Raymond C. Ortlund, pastor in Nashville, officiated and encouraged the couple and guests from Psalm 31:19. "The LORD has brought you two together in an outpouring of His gracious purpose for you because He is calling you- in a world of suffering and sorrow- to stand out as surprising people, who even in their tears, are trusting in the abundant goodness of God." Matthew Richard Owens, pastor from Boston and friend of the groom, read Colossians 3:12-17.

Rebecca is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Millard Morris of North Augusta, South Carolina. Her late grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Scurry Smith and Mr. and Mrs. William Archie Morris. She is a 2007 graduate of Westminster Schools of Augusta and a 2011 graduate of Clemson University. She is employed by Vanderbilt University.

Phillip is the son of Ms. Phyllis Fox Vaughn of Nashville, Tennessee and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Houston Vaughn, Jr., of Brentwood, Tennessee. His late grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ulna Raymond Fox and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Houston Vaughn, Sr. He is a 1999 graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2003. He is employed by Vaughn Development.

Given in marriage by her father, Rebecca chose Katherine Clark Boutwell, a long-time friend, to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Eliza McNeill Morris, niece of the bride; Sarah Grace Doolittle and Caroline Anne Royal, cousins of the bride; Kara Seat Ferree, Sadie Cooke Holsinger and Lindsey Ruff Ruthven, former housemates of the bride in Nashville.

Jeremy Matthew Hammond, life-long friend of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were David Ward Branson, Robert Adam Duncan, Nathaniel Barrett Kenney and Marion Eugene Maynord, all long-time friends of the groom. The bride's four brothers-Joshua John Morris, Byron Millard Morris, Jr., Caleb Alexander Morris and Joseph Kelly Morris - and two of her nephews-John Matthew Morris and William Levi Morris - were ushers. James Allen Morris, Byron Milliard Morris, III, nephews of the bride, and Emma Elizabeth Morris and Mary Taylor Morris, nieces of the bride, were program attendants.

Linley Stokes was the wedding coordinator. Marie Davis and Karen Clark worked with her to create a lovely reception at The Gibbes Museum in Charleston.

Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn honeymooned in Italy and now reside in Nashville, Tennessee.

"O God beyond all praising, we worship you today! And sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay. For we can only wonder at every gift you send, at blessings without number and mercies without end. We lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word; we honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord."
