Greenberg 60th Anniversary
Marvin and Sylvia Greenberg are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on February 7. Marvin was born in Waco and raised in Dallas. He attended Forest Ave. High School and graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Pharmacy. Sylvia was born in Arp, Texas, and grew up in Odessa. She graduated with a music degree from the University of Oklahoma. They were married at Temple Beth El in Odessa on February 7, 1954.
Yes, there was a rivalry when Texas played OU. For many years, there was a race to see who would wake up first and dress the children in red or burnt orange. Sylvia eventually capitulated when all three of their children graduated from UT.
Perhaps this couple is best known to Dallasites for the 40 years they owned and operated Greenberg Pharmacy, an institution in the Park Cities. The Greenbergs retired in 1998; however, former customers still recognize them and strike up a conversation about the golden days of Greenberg Pharmacy.
The Greenbergs continue to be active after retirement. Both play bridge and travel extensively, most recently with an Impressionist Art Tour in Europe and return trip on the Queen Mary II. Marvin played tennis at T Bar M until a recent shoulder injury sidelined him. Sylvia expresses her passion for painting with art classes at the JCC. She loves keeping up with family and friends on Facebook and is a Fantasy Football enthusiast.
The Greenberg's biggest joy are their children: Marla and Howard Janco , Barry and Sandi Greenberg in Dallas and Dr Steve and MaryBeth Greenberg in Tampa Florida. Fabulous grandchildren: Gracyn Lewins, David and Matthew Greenberg, Miles, Alex and Nicole Greenberg and
Ellie, Laura, David and Jackie Janco and our newest family member, two year old great granddaughter Alyssa Janco.
