Spalding - Marek
Leah Michelle Spalding and Michael John Marek were united in marriage on January 12, 2013, at 6:30 in the evening at Robert Carr Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas. Father Charlie Calabrese officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Laura and Larry V. Spalding of Fort Worth. The groom is the son of Lynne and Frank J. Marek of Dallas. Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. Carolyn Lackland and the late Billy Gene Lackland and Marilyn and James L. Spalding. Grandparents of the groom are Kay and Charles R. Carswell and the late Eleanor and Frank J. Marek.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Justin Alexander gown with a chapel length train. Designed with a sweetheart neckline and trumpet skirt of textured ivory lace, it was accented by a pleated cummerbund of ivory regal satin. She wore a fingertip-length veil trimmed in lace. She carried hand-tied flowers in a bouquet of red and deep plum hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies, and tulips accented with berries. It was wrapped in ivory lace from her grandmother's wedding gown. The bridesmaids wore floor-length chiffon gowns by Allure Maids in eggplant.
The maid of honor was Lynn Spalding, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Jackie Druzanovic, Kirsten Hodge, Lauryn Harris, Laura Mayer, Jennifer Zettler, and Erin Ermon. The best man was Stephen Collins. The groomsmen were David Marek, brother of the groom, Steven Meisel, Ryan Johnson, Zach Wolf, Graham Reed, and Steven Jarrett. The flower girls were Lainey Wren and Avery Wren, cousins of the groom. The ushers were Parker Moore and Ridge Moore, cousins of the bride, Clinton Allen, and Reed Cupps. The house party included Amy Gono Collins, Whitney McKimmey, Lauren Pond, and Mallory Rigney.
The organist was Marialice Parish. The soloist was David Marek, who sang Ave Maria. Lynn Spalding and Charles Carswell delivered the scripture readings during the ceremony.
Dinner and dancing followed at Stonegate Mansion in Fort Worth. A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at Joe T. Garcia's -- La Puertita the night before.
The bride and groom graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station. Leah received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2009. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Michael received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 and a master's in Petroleum Engineering in 2010. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Leah is a fourth grade teacher in Highland Park ISD, and Michael is a petroleum engineer at EXCO Resources in Dallas.
The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Hawaii and reside in Dallas.
