Edna and Joe W. Moore celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Fort Worth Club. They were married on July 8, 1944 in the First Baptist Church in Helena, Arkansas. The wedding was originally planned for Tuesday, June 27. Joe came home on leave from the Navy on the Saturday night before the wedding and was operated on for appendicitis the next day. Two of Joe's buddies had arranged a short leave to be in the wedding but had to return to duty before the rescheduled wedding date of July 8. After a brief honeymoon at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Joe returned to Navy duty. After the war and graduation from Georgia Tech, they moved to Fort Worth with their twin daughters, Carol Ann and Mary Jane, in January 1950. There, Joe began a 38 1/2-year career in engineering with Convair (now Lockheed Martin). Joe and Edna are active members of Richland Hills Baptist Church.
