Eddie John Dees, Sr. and Jatis Perryman Dees celebrated their 60th anniversary on December 21, 2012. The bride and groom met while earning their music degrees at North Texas State University in Denton and were married in Longview, Texas. In the 1960s, both musicians lived in Fort Worth and performed in the North Texas area as founding members of the Eddie Dees Combo. Their repertoire included jazz and that which would now be called "old standards".
Eddie, with his PhD in counseling, and Jatis, with her MEd in special education have spent most of their lives serving students. They began one of the first private schools for children who had difficulties in public school. Many graduates of Shady Oaks School, later known as Lake Country Academy, have become successful as the result of the individualized instruction they experienced and the close family atmosphere at the school. After living in Colorado and West Texas, Eddie and Jatis moved to and now reside in the Houston area.
Close family members include their children, Lynne, Eddie Jr., and Layle Dees; grandchildren, Josh and Emily Dees; great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Moss, and son-in-law, Bill Crawford. Jatis and Eddie can be contacted at email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
