Knapp-Harkness Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC, was the setting Saturday, August 24, 2019, for the marriage of Miss Margaret Wilds Harkness and Mr. John Tyler Knapp, both of Greenville, SC. The Reverend Doctor Jeffrey Earl Bryan officiated at the 6:00 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at McBryde Hall, on the campus of Winthrop University, in Rock Hill. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dana Len Harkness of Rock Hill, graduated from Clemson University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She is a registered nurse with St. Francis Healthcare in Greenville, SC. Margaret is the granddaughter or Mr. and Mrs. James Linwood Harkness of Greer, SC, and the late Dr. and Mrs. James Macdonald III. The bridegroom, son of Mr. K.V. (Bo) Knapp and Mrs. Laurie Cook Knapp of Greenville, SC, graduated from Wofford College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and from the University of South Carolina in 2010 with a Masters degree in International Business. He is an executive with Perfect Delivery in Greenville, SC. John is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Wheaton Ferris Cook, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ned Lee Knapp. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Her Matron of Honor was her sister, Elizabeth Harkness Hanley of Tampa, FL. Bridesmaids were Emily Barnes Alfieris, Frances Green Black, Marian Proctor Miller, and Virginia Cochran Reed, all of Greenville, SC, Taylor Burnette Brantley of Pensacola, FL, Allison Melton Gunter of Columbia, SC, and Megan Carlyle Oliver of Mount Pleasant, SC. Program Attendants were Logan Rebecca Barnes and Mary Campbell Kellett, both of Charlotte, NC. The Best Man was the bridegroom's father. Groomsmen were Edward Lloyd Garrison, Jr. of Little Rock, AR, Edward Nathaniel Hanley III of Tampa, FL, William Stuart Jackson, Jr., Ryan Lewis Johnston, Lee Alexander Kester, Austin Ferris Knapp, and Patrick John Reid, all of Greenville, SC. Ushers were Mills Augustine Armstrong of Greenville, SC, and Brian Michael Collie of Mount Pleasant, SC. Flower girls were Margaret Lucia Hanley of Tampa, FL, and Mary Ellis Knapp of Greenville, SC. The newlyweds honeymooned on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, and will live in Greenville, SC.
