Presents 18th Biennial Debutante Ball
On the 23rd of June 2018, the Houston Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presented 16 beautiful and accomplished young ladies to society at the Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel, culminating the Chapter's 18th Biennial Debutante Season themed… Beautiful Visions of Venice.
The 2017-2018 Debutante Season began in grand and elegant style with the Holiday Tea, the first formal social event of the Season, which was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Moss of Sugar Land, Texas. At this event, the debutantes and their mothers were given the opportunity to meet and greet each other for the first time as a group, and get acquainted in a social setting.
During the season, the Debutantes were deeply engaged, participating in various educational presentations including a workshop on Proper Attire for the Season, a Finance Workshop for college students and an Etiquette Workshop, presented by Mrs. Terri Lynch and Mr. Gregory Jordan.
They also had the opportunity to participate in a Teen Violence Awareness Seminar. Later in the season,several debutante 'coming out" parties were hosted by the debutantes, their families and friends. One of the closing events of the season was the Reception held at the Sweetwater Country Club on Sunday, June 10, 2018, honoring the debutantes and their families.
On the occasion of the Debutante Ball, each debutante was officially introduced to the esteemed guests by Ms. Erica Simon of ABC-Channel 13 and Mr. Jose' Grinnan of Fox 26 News. Attendees were entertained by the debutantes as they performed an elegant cotillion in the Grand Ballroom ,decorated in gleaming champagne color with crystal accents. To mark the magnitude of the occasion, a Proclamation from the City of Houston and Mayor Sylvester Turner was presented to the Houston Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter and the 16 debutantes.
Mrs. Muriel Jackson was recognized for her art and creativity, as choreographer for all of the chapter's Debutante Balls since 1986.
Guests attending the event in record numbers ,were mesmerized by the 'Visions of Venice" and the elegant presentation of the 16 beautiful debutantes into society.

The Sub-committee Chairs were Ms. Patricia Allison, Mrs. Fraulyn Baisey, Mrs.Jacquelyn Blossom, Mrs. Barbara Branch, Mrs. Pamela Cashaw, Ms. Stephanie Adams, Ms. Jan Matthews, Mrs. Terri Lynch, Ms. Sherri Daniels, Mrs. Joan Graham, Mrs. Muriel Jackson, Ms. Candra O. Lacy and Ms. Reshane Folwer.
