Harold and Mary Ida Martin of Independence celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on Saturday, November 30th at Jess and Jim's Steakhouse, Martin City, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Martin have four children, Dr. Donald Martin (Liz) of Independence, Retired Lt. Col. Darrell Martin (Linda) of Columbia, Mrs. Patricia Simcosky (Mark) and Dr. Barbara Martin of Independence. They also have seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. They were married Dec. 2, 1938, in Springfield, Mo., and lived in Clinton, Mo., before moving to Independence in 1945. Harold served in World War II in Biloxi, Miss. He retired from Phillips Petroleum in 1982, and is a member of Masonic Lodge 76 and past, Associate Guardian Job Daughters. He is a Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Independence. Mary Ida retired from TG&Y in 1983. She is a life time member of Missouri PTA and is an avid quilter. She is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. The couple celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Branson.
